Tiny Tackle Draws Big Bites
PowerPro meets the needs of ultra light anglers with 5 lb. test line
With the popularity of fishing continuing to grow, Innovative Textiles has introduced a boon companion to ultra-light tackle. Today’s fishermen are savvier in applying the fine tuned skills needed to stay afloat in competitive and recreational fishing. “Although we’ve had the technology to make 5 lb. test for several years now, I just didn’t think the superline market was mature enough for a line this light... until now,” says company founder Konrad Krauland. “But caution must be used with this ultra-light line; anglers need to be more gentle on the hook set and soft tipped rods are a plus.”
Many anglers steer clear of using ultra-light tackle because they don’t understand its advantages. A common misconception is that small tackle only catches small fish. The truth is ultra-light is a sporting tackle and when used on
big fish, it increases the challenge and the satisfaction when they are landed. PowerPro 5 lb. test allows an angler to cast tiny topwaters, crankbaits, soft plastics, spoons, spinners and jigs weighing 1/32-1/8 ounce. Plus, there are many situations, such as when fishing pressure is heavy, natural forage is small or waters are extremely clear, when fish are much more likely to eat lures that are low profile and subtle in terms of size and action.

Until now, finesse fishermen had been limited to monofilament lines, placing them at the mercy of line twists due to its coiling “memory” characteristic. But by spooling up with PowerPro, closing the bail manually and backing off on the drag a bit, this problem can be effectively eliminated. Anglers are now able to reap the benefits of an ultra-light line with incredible strength, sensitivity and castability.

This new test has all of the qualities that set PowerPro apart from other braids. Enhanced Body Technology (EBT) is what makes the difference. EBT creates a line that is rounder and more compact, which resists burying in the spool. PowerPro is smoother, has improved knot performance, creates less friction on guides, reduces whip knots and rod tip wraps. The 5 lb. test has a diameter less
than 1 lb. mono (>.005”), comes in the same put ups as the rest of the sizes (100 yd., 150 yd., 300 yd., 500 yd. & 1,500 yd. spools) and the same colors (Moss Green, Hi-Vis Yellow, White and NEW Phantom Red). Whether targeting crappie, bluegills, panfish, walleye, rock bass or trout, the ultra-light angler will appreciate the thin diameter of PowerPro’s new 5 lb. test...because tiny tackle draws big bites.
