Shimano awarded at EFTTEX again!
From the 17th until the 19th of June EFTTEX, the annual trade show organized by the European Fishing Tackle Trade Association (EFTTA), took place in Amsterdam.
At EFTTEX each company is entitled to enter a maximum of 4 different products into the Best New Product competition. The competition is judged by a panel of independent experts during EFTTEX 2011.
During the official prize giving on Saturday June 18th, the Shimano team was extremely honored being awarded with winning the Best New Fixed Spool Reel and Best New Braid categories.

Best New Fixed Spool Reel: Aero Technium Mgs XS-B
In 2008 Shimano introduced its first Aero Technium Mgs in EFTTEX with great success, being awarded in the Best New Reel category. After 3 years of development we proudly introduced its replacement in EFTTEX 2011. And again the Aero Technium Mgs XS-B won! Stunning cosmetics, extreme lightness and a busload of new features, again this reel lived up to its EFTTEX 2008 naming to be “an instant classic”.
The new X-Ship system will reduce friction to a minimum making the reel run much smoother and more stable. The newly designed cold forged aluminum drive gear increases the cranking power making it easier to retrieve even the heaviest loads. With a magnesium body and rotor a staggering weight of only 440g is accomplished. The combination of our unrivaled Aerowrap II system with super slow oscillation speed creates the best line lay for making your longest cast ever. Imagine 100 rotor turns in one full oscillation and a line retrieve over one meter for a speedy line retrieve. The Instant Drag, setting the reel into free spool in just half a turn, will make this reel a dream to all specimen and surf anglers.

Best New Braid: PowerPro Super 8 Slick
Super 8 Slick is a super soft 8 carrier braided line. The combination of the 8 carrier diamond braid construction with PowerPro Enhanced Body Technology resulted in a braided line with is ultra round, smooth as silk and slick as a mono line. PowerPro Enhanced Body Technology compacts the line to avoid wind knots and digging into the spool. The advantages for the fishermen result in a line which is more quiet in casting, increased casting distance and super smooth handling.
